JUST ONE EXAMPLE OF OUR INNOVATION

The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Wellington required an uncompromising security system. Nedax was brought in to deliver a state-of-the-art and practical solution.

Project

Nedax were delighted to be awarded the security contract for the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia by Tracer Construction. It specified an extensive system of access control, CCTV, and related IT infrastructure. This project was an evolution of Nedax’s PwC system – a design seen as a benchmark for further innovation to Nedax’s design and installation philosophy.

Solutions

Access Control
For access control systems Nedax chose to use Gallagher, and incorporated FT6000 controllers with HBus modules, along with BLE capable T20, T11 and T15 readers. A comprehensive intruder alarm system using Pyronix anti-masking detectors with six-state monitoring was incorporated. Nedax’s 12amp/13.6 VDC power supply was installed, and included an LCD display that details device current monitoring, and automated battery capacity testing. This was coupled with independent power supplies for controllers and locking devices. The access control server was also 48VDC powered.

CCTV
A Milestone CCTV system was installed with over 20 4K IP cameras covering the complex. A specialised server array with DAS was incorporated, allowing for a 12-month online video archive. The server and storage arrays are fully backed up and supported by a custom 48VDC UPS giving in excess of 24 hours of run time in the event of a power failure. POC HDBaseT T HDMI 2.1 extenders allowed for remote guard room viewing, and KB/mouse control on 4K monitors.

The client workstation was rack mounted in the server rack, and powered by 1+1 dual redundant 48VDC power supplies. A high-specification video card was installed, allowing real-time viewing in 4K.

IT Infrastructure
Nedax organised internet directly to the security rack with VPN connectivity early in the project, to ensure systems could be programmed and monitored quickly. Prior to installation, the security rack, complete with the access control server, NVR, DAS, POE switches and 48VDC supplies, was fully built up offsite and soak tested with all devices attached for 60 days. 150x100 trunking was test-fitted on site prior to being powder coated. All rack systems were seismically braced.

Outcomes

Nedax trained the 24/7 guards at the Embassy to administer the access control and CCTV systems for programming, reporting and footage extraction. A long-term support contract is in place which provides software updates and quarterly testing regimes. The system has full reporting capability over IP, and monitors every aspect of the installation. Gallagher health reporting tools are used to ensure 100% uptime.
